Camera bags and cases protect your valuable gear

Do you want to wear it on you waist, your back, or your shoulder?Maybe you just want to roll it? There are more choices than ever when it comes to this accessory - your camera bag or case.

Camera bags come in all sizes and shapes with compartments for your camera(s), lens(es), flash(es) and accessories.Choose one that will fit all your primary gear and some back-up gear as well, since it is better to have to much space than not enough. You can also choose two bags, one for a short day trip and another for a longer trip perhaps going on a plane. I always use a bag for my gear even I'm only traveling on a short car ride.

Here are some tips in choosing a camera bag:

  • be able to accommodate your camera with its longest lens
  • it should have plenty of padding
  • it should have customizable compartments through velcro enclosures
  • it can be worn several ways; as a back-pack, waist-pack or on the shoulder.
  • waterproof
  • have rollers if you travel alot
  • quick acessibility of your equipment
  • a slot for your laptop if you will need your computer comfort

I have found going to a professional camera store the best way to purchase a camera bag or case for my SLR camera.Another great way to check out gear is to attend a photography trade show in your area. The PPA (Professional Photographers of America) has local chapters with trade shows at least once a year in each state.
